Yes. Most Dimplex models include a built-in heater that warms rooms up to around 400 square feet. You can also run the flame effect on its own, with no heat, year-round.
No. Electric fireplaces are efficient and typically cost less to operate than gas. The flame-only mode uses very little energy, so you can enjoy the ambiance without running the heat.
No. There is no combustion, so no venting, chimney, flue, or gas line is required. Plug-in models use a standard outlet. Built-in models can be hardwired by an electrician.
